KASUNANAN PALACE

Kasunanan Palace as also called Karaton Surakarta Hadiningrat was built in 1745 by King Pakubuwono th 2nd. This is the mainly thing of Karaton Surakarta at the same time with the finding of this city.

Inside of the palace, there is an exotic art gallery and a museum with exiting heirlooms of the kingdom. A cart and its coachman, ancient weapons, and a keris (Javanese Traditional Weapon), and also antique matters. In the yard of the palace, which is dominated by a tower called Panggung Sanggabuwana, a mysterious tower as a place for the king to meet the ruler of the south sea. There is no such a prestigious and peaceful monument for tradition, art, and culture of Javanese classic kingdom.

MANGKUNEGARAN PALACE

Beside Kasunanan Palace, Solo City also has a beautiful and majestic palace, it’s Mangkunegaran Palace (Pura Mangkunegaran). The name of Pura came from Javanese language which means palace. Mangkunegaran Palace becomes the center of culture and art in Solo City. There are many valueable collections and it’s believed to come from Majapahit and Mataram Palace.

Pura Mangkunegaran was built in 1757 through a long history. After the death of Amangkurat IV, the King of Mataram Palace, the palace’s always intervened by the Dutch colonialist and then succeeded putting Adipati Anom (PB II) as an heir of the palace. Even though, Prince Arya Mangkunegaran, an legitimate heir, against the Dutch colonialist so that led to war. Then Raden Mas Said, son of Arya Mangkunegaran, took the fight to against the Dutch colonialist and finally through Giyanti Agreement, Raden Mas Said became the king of Pura Mangkunegaran (Mangkunegaran I) and inherited north region of Solo, based in Pura Mangkunegaran.

During visiting to Pura Mangkunegaran, you will be accompanied by a tour guide. When entering Pura Mangkunegaran area, you will see the wide yard and find Europe style building, Kavalerie-Artillerie which became front of Mangkunegaran’s cavalry. When you inside the gate, you also will see pavilion which represents Europe-Javaness architecture. The pavilion is always used for clasic dance and puppet performances accompanied by Kyai Kanyut Mesem (traditonal instruments-gamelab). After passing through pavilion, you will see Pringgitan where the Palace family live and Rekso Pustoko which there are many collections such as masks, traditional trains and the other collections.

Favourite tour package which offered by Mangkunegaran Palace is Mangkunegaran Royal Dinner. It’s unfortunately if you visit Mangkunegaran but you can’t enjoy Mangkunegaran Royal Dinner. In Mangkunegaran Royal Dinner, you will feel like a king because you can eat many Mangkunegaran’s typical foods, such as garang asem bumbung, sambel goreng bledak, pecel pitik, lodoh pindang, pecel pitik and puding tape as dessert. TRIWINDU ANTIQUE MARKET

A traditional flea market that sell antique items. Its a very nice antique market with lots of ethnic, craft, and vintage stuffs of any kind. Here, visitors can find cpins, radio, keris, lamps, leather puppet, kid toys, wooden or bronze statue, and also reproduction of antiques. Walking down the market aisles with antiques scattered on the right and left sides will make you feel like you are in the antique heaven.

SANGIRAN ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEM

At that time, a lot of tourists who come to visit these places then came the idea to build a museum. Sangiran Museum was originally built on a land area of 1,000 m2, located next to the Village Hall Krikilan. A representative museum was built in 1980 by considering the increasing number of fossils found, and also to serve the needs of tourists will travel comfortable place. The building area of 16 675 m2 with the museum area of 750 m2.

NDALEM TJOKROSOEMARTAN

A beautiful colonial style house has been preserved carefully by several generations of batik trade center families. This is Tjokrosoemarto Batik family’s house (Ndalem Tjokrosoemartan), one of the pioneers and exporters Indonesia, Solo. A historical heritage plays an important role during the war of independence of Indonesia and therefore respected by the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno . KAMPOENG BATIK LAWEYAN 

Laweyan is one of popular the central batik in Solo. There are a lot of history left in this village until became icons Batik Solo since 19th century. PASAR GEDE – TRADITIONAL MARKET

Pasar Gede was established in 1932 by Susuhunan pakubuwono X,and constructed by a Holland Architects used by Surakarta people for buy and sell many of goods,like vegetables,fruits,any of traditional snacks and many more at past time and still function like that until now,but now pasargede also sell fish and aquarium periperal.Pasar Gede also a base of andong(traditional java vehicles which pulled by horses) in past time,because pasar gede is a economic center in Surakarta until now,and surrounding by Chinatown as economic agent.Its located approximately 1 kilometers from Kasunanan Palace,and near from Surakarta major office.This photo explain pasar gede at 1935,andong still a general transportation for carry goods and accompany people to go everywhere which they want to go,the road still quiet without pollution everywhere,not crowd and make us feel free(what relation with our topics?),the building still original and everything still orderly without complex problem like now(stuck in the road,complicated building design and many of social problem).Its make us glad to shopping in the traditional market,people which friendly and offer the goods with smile(now people can angry with us because we not buy their goods).
